Creative Guest of Honor Stephen Leigh
Steve has published 31 novels and over 50 short stories, both under his own name and the pen name S.L. Farrell. His most recent novel was Bound to a Single Sun (Astra Publishing, Feb. 2022. Publisher’s Weekly has said this about his work: “Exploring big ideas about interplanetary travel, this finely crafted sci-fi saga is full of both surprises and charm.” He’s currently working on his next novel.
Steve’s work has been nominated for and won awards within the sf/fantasy genre. He’s a frequent contributor to George RR Martin’s Wild Cards series. His website is at www.stephenleigh.com. Fan Guest of Honor Brian Decker
Brian Decker is a pillar of the fannish community, and it in turn has permeated every aspect of his life.
Brian was part of the team that moved ConFusion into the digital age in the early Naughts, coding a registration and tracking system that moved the con off of paper. He was ConChair for two of the largest ConFusion events (2011 and 2012), bringing in Scientist Aubrey de Grey and Authors Cherie Priest and Joe Abercrombie. After his years as ConChair, he took over as hotel liaison (because what’s one more contract negotiation!), and joined the AASFA Board, serving as President since 2012.
Brian approaches every part of life as a solvable equation. Don’t like working for others? Start your own company. Want to meet and eventually marry an enchanting and elegant woman? Take up professional ballroom dancing. Bonus points when she’s also an actress who builds a career in publishing. Need to name your children? Alphabetically is the most logical.
Whether helping his eldest (B) with their robotics competitions, cheering on gymnastics competitions for the “Middlest” (C) and smallest (D), or chasing all three of them up and down ski hills as they hone their skills, Brian takes pride in his children’s individual achievements as well as introducing them to activities he enjoys. B is even running TeenFusion this year!
